The client, a US-based electrical equipment wholesaler, had been running Dynamics NAV for years. It worked. But it had fallen out of mainstream support, which meant no security updates and no regulatory updates — and around it had grown a layer of customizations, added over successive years by different hands, that made each new change slower than the last.
The Migration Challenge
Moving to Business Central was the obvious answer. Doing it without interrupting order fulfilment was the difficult part.

We began with an assessment rather than a plan. An object-level inventory of every customization, a map of integrations and add-on dependencies, and a review of data quality — because in a migration, the decisions that matter are made before any data moves.
- Triaged Outcomes: Rebuilt as an AL extension, replaced by standard Business Central functionality, or retired.
- Carry Only Value: Migrations become expensive when legacy complexity is carried forward by default. We carried forward only what earned its place.

Timed Cutover Rehearsals & Showing Up for Month-End
Data migration was rehearsed repeatedly before cutover. Each run was reconciled against the source system and strictly timed, so the go-live window could be committed to rather than estimated.

Repeated mock migration runs ensured trial balance integrity, open AR/AP ledger balancing, and exact stock valuation verification before live cutover authorization.
